Auf der Grundlage eines typologisch-symbolistischen Bibelverständnisses, das Gemeinsamkeiten mit Otto von Freising und anderen hat, kommt Heinrich zu einer Geschichtstheologie, nach der Mission, Missionskrieg und überhaupt alles göttliche und menschliche Wirken auf die Ausbreitung des Friedens Christi, des „vere pacificus“, abzielt.
N2  - Henry of Latvia, parish priest in Rubene (Latvia), contemporary witness and chronicler of the Baltic Crusades, had been educated at the monastery of Canons Regular of St Augustine in Segeberg (Holsatia). Based on a typological and symbolistic understanding of the Scripture, which is akin to that of Otto of Freising and others, Henry got a theology of history, according to which mission, crusade, and in general all divine and human efforts aim to the spreading of Christ’s peace, who is the “vere pacificus”.
