- Common information
-
In the menues "search" and "browse" you find some possibilities for retrieving documents. If you want to publish a document, you have to select the menue "publish"; within some steps you can transmit your document to the edoc server.
- Who is allowed to publish?
-
Der edoc-Server steht allen Mitgliedern sowie Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern der BBAW zur Veröffentlichung wissenschaftlicher Schriften und Forschungsdaten zur Verfügung.
- What am I allowed to publish?
-
- Before the publication
-
Before starting the publication process make shure that
- you have all the rights that are necessary for the publication of the document on the edoc server
- the document is in a format that is suitable for long term preservation
- you have the needed bibliographic information for filling the form correctly.
- How do I publish my work here?
-
Please click on the publication link on the start page.
First you are requested to choose a document type. Right beneath that you can upload your document files. Having done so you may click on "send". What follows now is the actual form. You have to fill in data about your publication here (so called metadata), which is used to describe your work in catalouges and other bibliographic directories. Describe the document you want to upload using the categories and fields on the publication form. Depending on the document type, some of these fields are mandatory and therefore have to be filled in. Please describe your document as clear as possible.Mandatory fields are for example:
- the document type (must be choosen from a list)
- the title of your publication and the language of the title
- the abstract of the document
- the publication date of your document (normally the day you publish it online)
- the language of the document (must be choosen from a list)
- the licence, under which you want to publish your document (must be choosen from a list)
If you are unsure what to fill in certain form fields, you can point the cursor on a field and an explaining help text will be shown.
After you have finished the form, all data will be displayed once again for a check-up and you then have three possibilities: you can correct them if necessary or simply safe it directly.Note:
In order to publish your work cookies have to be enabled in your web browser.
- What file types are accepted?
-
At the moment the edoc-server of the Academy only accepts PDF-Files for reasons of long term preservation. In case your document is not PDF/A, we will convert it to the accepted format.
For research data we accept the following data formats: csv, html, md, pdf, png, sgml, sql, tif, tiff, txt, xhtml, xml, xqueries, xslt, slsx, xql, warc, zip. In case you want to upload a zip file containing your research data, we will check whether the content of your file includes only the mentioned formats.
- What's to regard if I plan to publish my work by a professional publisher or have done that already?
-
In most cases this is no problem. Please ensure in any case, if your publisher allows a parallel publication! To do that you can use the SHERPA/ROMEO list.
- What about licenses for my publication?
-
Authors can choose which terms of use must be regarded for their publication. These terms are defined in a license. In agreement with the Open Access Policy of the Academy, we currently only offer a Creative Commons licence.
The licences can be complemented if necessary (e.g. software).
- Can I publish research data?
