Polysemie und Polyäquivalenz : zur kontrastiven Darstellung des ägyptischen Wortschatzes (2016)
Hafemann, Ingelore
The vocabulary of languages actually reflects very different semantic fields. The majority of individual words are polysemous and can be assigned to more than one semantic field. The polysemy of a word is, moreover, different in each language. The making of entries in a bilingual dictionary is complicated by phenomena of polysemy in the source language and ambiguities in the translations caused by the different polysemy of the target language. In this paper a differentiated lexicographic processing for the Egyptian word “house” (pr) is proposed, based on the sets of cognitive synonyms, similar to the ‘synsets’ of the project WordNet at Princeton University. In the field of bilingual lexicography better translations can be found on the basis of this concept.
